About

WE MEAN BUSINESS. EAST NEW YORK

is an advocacy campaign that aims to enhance small business awareness of current changes in the neighborhood, fast-track access to existing business development services, and empower owners to unite as a merchant alliance.

Supported by a Neighborhood Challenge Innovation Grant from NYC Small Business Services (SBS), the East New York, Identity+Design Action project is a model for connecting community voices and business development through design. Spearheaded by the New York chapter of AIGA, the leading graphic design trade organization, AIGA/NY, in partnership with the Local Development Corporation of East New York (LDCENY), a major player in the provision of social and professional development services to minorities, the project seeks to create a coherent neighborhood-wide visual system that captures and reinforces the community’s identity.

THE ALLIANCE

The alliance will empower neighborhood-owned and run businesses with an enhanced sense of identity, increased access to information, while building a more resilient community.

The East New York We Mean Business Alliance aims to tackle issues like Unification, Beautification, and Safety. The Alliance will provide business owners with Networking, a Resource Center, and Insurance. Alliance members agree to Organize, Be Involved, and Promote on behalf of the Alliance.
